Detective Definition

A detective is an investigator, either a member of a policy agency or a private person. The latter may be known a private investigation or private eyes. Informally and primarily in fiction, a detective is any licensed or unlicensed person who solves crimes, including historical crimes or looks into records.
A detective is an investigator, usually a member of law enforcement agency. They often collect information to solve crime by taking the witnesses and informations, searching records in databases. A detective may work for police or privately.
